I’ve been looking askance at the paper Obama hanging so uncritically on my wall for several months now. Elections matter, but the system stays the same and the system as is doesn’t work for most of us. So many areas of contention - where Democrats bit back at Republicans over the prosecution of the war on terror, the treatment of detainees, a million things - have become bipartisan consensus under Obama and so dropped out of the debate altogether.
